An announcement came this week that the International Ski Federation (ISF) has cracked down on sponsorship rules and will no longer award title and presenting sponsor rights to commercial betting companies.
The ISF decided to clamp down on the rules and tighten them in order to help fight irregular betting and match-fixing throughout the world of sport.
Therefore, athletes are also prohibited from carrying gambling operator advertising on their racing suites or from having gambling operators as a main sponsor.
On a more cheerful note, the federation still allows smaller scale sponsorship advertising by betting companies at race organizers' events.
