Premier League: Manchester City agree fee for Spanish international Jesus Navas
Manchester City have agreed a fee with Sevilla for 27-year old winger Jesus Navas. The talented winger has been with Sevilla for his whole career and the fee coule be around 17 million pounds plus bonuses. Navas was a member of Spain's 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 squads and is in the 23-man squad for the Confederations Cup. The player is fairly attached to his home city as he previously turned down an offer from Chelsea back in 2006. He seems to have gotten past that problem now but he still won't know who will be their manager as City are yet to appoint a new manager after Roberto Mancini was sacked. Navas would be City's first big signing of the summer after finishing second in the Premier League, 11 points behind new champions Manchester United. Navas was one of the stars in the Sevilla team that won the Uefa Cup in 2006 and 2007. He is a quick and skillful winger but he seems to have some trouble finding the back of the net as he scored just 23 goals in 285 league games for Sevilla. A statement on the Spanish club's website confirmed the deal: "Jesus Navas leaves Seville for Manchester City. Sevilla accepted an offer from the English club on Monday, taking into account the desire of the player, who will now have to pass a medical. Navas wants to continue his successful sporting career in English football, more precisely at a club at which he can continue to develop as a footballer, as he has publicly stated on various occasions in recent months." Manchester City are 9/4 to win the Premier League next season at Bet365 while the same sportsbook gives them 10/1 odds to win the Champions League in 2014.
