Update: Kobe Bryant Fights in Court Over the Sale of his Mementos
To refresh your memory, Kobe Bryant has been struggling with the fact that his mother has given up all of his personal sentimental items to be sold. It's time to take the case to court and a judge scheduled a date of June 17th for the trial to commence. Bryant will face a New Jersey auction house to determine whether his high school memorabilia can be sold. Bryant argues that his mother, Pamela Bryant, is not the owner and had no right to give the mementos to the auction house. The trial date is now set and the lawyers will also be expected to present their case to the court on Friday in the hopes of settling the matter prior to the hearing. It gets a bit confusing because Bryant's mother had possession of the items but the real litigation is between Kobe Bryant and Berlin, N.J.-based Goldin Auctions, the company she chose to auction off the items. Items intended to be sold at auction include practice gear, jerseys, varsity letters and various awards from Bryant's high school days at Pennsylvania's Lower Merion High School.
