California state Senator Rod Wright's bill SB109 which seeks to legalize intrastate online sports betting was successful this week, as it passed the Senate Governmental Organization Committee on an 11-0 vote.
The bill's predecessor - SB1390 a year ago made a similar success in the committee and even the state Senate, but fell through in the House.
In light of the bill's progress, California keep one eye on the developments in the case of New Jersey's appeal against a ruling which prevented it from implementing similar legislation after litigation with the national sports leagues.
