Premier League: Manchester City keep title hopes alive with win over Wigan
Carlos Tevez scored a late winner on Wednesday to keep Manchester City's slim title hopes alive with victory over Wigan. The Citizens struggled to overcome their opponents and could even have fallen behind before half time when Joe Hart stopped Franco Di Santo with a fine save. Carlos Tevez came to the rescue with 7 minutes left on the clock as he slipped past Scharner and Gomez before firing one straight into the top corner. City are now 13 points behind leaders Manchester United, while Wigan remain three points from safety. The opening minutes were quite boring but the crowd at Etihad Stadium burst into cheers as they found out that West Ham had opened the scoring against rivals Manchester United. However, that failed to galvanise Mancini's team and Wigan had the better chances to score before the break. Aguero had a decent chance for City as he skipped past Boyce and Scharner before firing wide. Wigan had two clear chances though, first through Arouna Kone who failed to control the ball when clean through on goal and then through Di Santo who weaved past Lescott and Berry before being denied by a huge save from Hart. Mancini sent in Edin Dzeko for Aguero at half time but that didn't seem to chance much as Wigan continued to threaten. Maloney nearly scored after working his way past Richards, the shot went beyond Hart but was cleared by Lescott. Arouna Kone also had a chance but fired wide before being blocked by Kompany on another opportunity. Tevez had a shot wide before Hart had to pull off another good save to deny an effort from Callum McManaman. Wigan would have deserved at least a point but they were punished seven minutes from time when Tevez beat two defenders before firing a beautiful shot into the top corner, his 11th league goal of the season. Manchester City have a very tough league match coming up on Sunday, away at Tottenham, a game that could go either way in theory. Here are the odds for that match at Bet365: Tottenham win - 21/10 Draw - 5/2 Manchester City win - 6/5
