Further to the major Legendz sports betting bust, the Department of Justice spokesmen confirmed that Gadsden, Albany-based affiliate marketer Gregory Wilson 'Patchman' Roberts has been indicted as well, but only accused meaning the defendants are to be presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The enforcement action actually originated in Oklahoma City where officials claim Roberts listed Legendz Sports as a 'Recommended Sportsbook' on one of his websites after he visited Panama City to engage with the Legendz operator.
The protracted investigation, covering several US states, was using wire-tapping and eavesdropping on Skype conversations between parties alleged to have been involved in the sports betting organisation revealing sensitive and incriminating information.
One of the arrested, Spiros 'The Greek' Athanas, was arraigned in a New Hampshire court after being accused of being a partner in Legendz Sports. He allegedly helped another Legendz partner to manipulate odds when they stood to take losses.
Moreover, the private jet that federal officials have applied to seize apparently belongs to Athanas as well.
