Sportradar Becomes Majority Shareholder in Sportstat
A report came this week that sports and betting-related data supplier Sportradar has become a majority shareholder in sports data provider Sports Statistics & Information Systems Ltd (SportStat). SportStat is known as an official data collection partner to the International Rugby Board, Rugby World Cup, World Snooker, the Professional Darts Corporation and other rugby union and league clubs. This acquisition is a key milestone in the execution of Sportradar's “one-stop-shop” provider strategy, and it will support the continued expansion of sports coverage, enabling Sportradar to cover even more games in real-time in the near future. Commenting on the new majority shareholder, Hugh Copping, managing director of SportStat, said: “Sportradar has a very strong position in the betting market and their experience is highly complementary to our own capabilities.
