Update: Platinum Sportsbook Raided Again by Canadian Police

This week saw the Canadian enforcement authorities crackdown on the Costa Rica-based Platinum Sportsbook which resulted in raids and arrests of M.K. (39) of Toronto and 43-year-old A.V. of Vaughan, as well as warrants issued for the apprehension of three other men identified as A.D. (47), J.F. (35), H.K. (41). The action conducted by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, is the third of its kind against the company.

According to the officer commanding of the CFSEU, Superintendent Keith Finn, “The arrests today are the third phase of the investigation into illegal gaming and Platinum Sportsbook. The timing of these arrests was planned to meet specific strategic and operational needs of the investigation. We will continue to monitor the use of illegal gambling websites.”

It has been specified that both men who were arrested face charges for committing a criminal offence for the benefit of a criminal organization and conspiracy to commit the offence of engaging in bookmaking, with M.K. also being charged with instructing a person to commit an indictable offence.

The same charges have been raised against A.D., J.F. and H.K. However, despite these actions against it, Platinum Sportsbook keeps operating under a new .tk domain.
