Champions League: Arsene Wenger believes in a comeback against Bayern Munich
Arsene Wenger says the Gunners can fight back from a 3-1 deficit against Bayern Munich on Wednesday and reach the Champions League quarter-finals. The almost impossible task is made even tougher as Arsenal won't be able to use goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, Jack Wilshere and Bacary Sanga. But Wenger says: "It is difficult we know that, but it is not impossible. The only way to make it possible is to have a real go - that's what we'll do. Turning up expecting to go out would be absolutely unacceptable for us." Bayern Munich have an amazing home record: they haven't conceded three goals at home since a defeat to Inter Milan two years ago and in this season's Bundesliga they have only let in 10 goals in 25 matches. But Wenger can't admit defeat before playing the match: "We have big experience in the Champions League and in Europe we have basically won everywhere and that means we have the right to believe. I am convinced that if this team can find a big game you will see a completely different animal. This season we have fought to find that in the big games and we have another opportunity on Wednesday. I hope the team takes this chance. I have a great respect for this team and its attitude and they have not been rewarded yet. It is important for the end to our season that we do it." Arsenal are now fifth in the Premier League and out of the Champions League qualifying places, they are also out of the FA Cup and are without a trophy since 2005. Even though Wenger has faced quite a bit of criticism this season, it is understood that the manager's position is not under threat even if the Champions League campaign ends on Wednesday and the club fail to qualify for next season's competition. If you feel that Arsenal can pull off the fightback you could make a bit of money with Bet365, the odds for Arsenal to qualify are at 25/1 while Bayern's qualification is priced at 1/100.
