Will ASA Need to Intervene in New Paddy Power Ad?
Online and land gambling group Paddy Power is back with yet another daring ad that may catch the attention of the Advertising Standards Authority. The new ad is presented on billboards opposite top UK football stadia, poking fun at stars of the resident club; for example, Chelsea star player Fernando Torres was taunted on his lack of goals in recent times. Some other big shots poked by the ads include Andrey Arshavin of Arsenal FC; Aston Villa's Darren Bent; Peter Odemwingie of West Brom and QPR's Jose Bosingwa. And even though some clubs, such as Chelsea tried to have the offending poster taken down on image rights grounds, they failed to do so because it is not situated on their property.
