Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers reckons his Uruguayan forward should be in contention for this season's PFA Player of the Year award since the striker has scored 25 times for a The Reds. Suarez is likely to make the award's shortlist but is currently third-favourite according to the bookmakers behind Gareth Bale and Robin van Persie.
Rodgers said: "I couldn't look much further than Luis Suarez. He has been phenomenal - that is not just an opinion as his manager. If I look across the board this is a guy who had to play alone up front because he was the only striker we had for nearly six months and never missed a day's training and played every minute of every game. His performances have spoken for themselves. There's many great players in this league but for me he has been absolutely outstanding."
Team-mate Lucas Leiva also supports Suarez for the award: "I just hope he wins because I think he deserves it after everything he has done this season. I think it's going to be between Luis, Van Persie and Bale. All three have performed really well and have scored a lot of goals, but we hope Luis has got the luck to win it."
