13th of February 2013 Author: Glo Wood
This month marks the beginning of Spring Training 2013 for Major League Baseball teams. Monday, February 11th was the first day that pitchers and catchers officially reported for Spring Training. It's the unofficial start to the baseball season with games beginning February 22nd; however the regular season begins on April 1st. League teams are busily preparing for the 2013 season.
"We have some things we can build on, because we had a good year last year, but this is 2013," executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette said of an Orioles team after they reached the American League Division Series. "This is a new group of players. This is a new season. We have new challenges. This is effectively a new team, but I can tell you this: The consistency of the leadership from the manager and the work ethic of the players instilled last year that should carry over."
The Orioles had a successful season while other teams have plenty of room for improvement. The Cubs were one of two teams in Major League Baseball (and the NL Central) that suffered 100 losses last season.
Here's to the start of a Major League Baseball!
