The latest reports from Schleswig-Holstein involve news that the lander's Ministry of Interior has granted another four sports betting licenses and one other online casino license.
This may come as a surprise considering the intention expressed by political parties SPD, Greens and SSW to lift the State's existing gambling law and rejoin the German State Treaty on Gambling during its first State Parliamentary session for 2013, which is scheduled for this week.
The latest sports betting licensees are Schleswig-Holstein-based Nordbet GmbH, World of Sports Betting Ltd, IBA Entertainment Ltd and Austrian firm Ruleo Alpenland GmbH, while the new online casino licensee is Betfair Ltd.
They join last week's new licensees, JAXX, Sportingbet and Primebet International, together with which they bring the number of those in possession of sports betting licenses to 22 and for online casino to 13.
