New Americas COO for Sportech

An announcement came this week from tote and pools operator Sportech PLC that it has appointed David Schreff (57) as chief operation officer responsible for the US and Latin American markets (Americas). Schreff will be reporting directly to Sportech Chief Executive Ian Penrose, and he will be responsible for the development of all US activities of the Company, which currently has over 700 employees in the United States. In its statement about Schreff's appointment, the company underlined that it represents an important next step in further consolidating and reinforcing its market leading position. Prior to this, Schreff earned valuable experience, serving on a multitude of board director, executive and senior management positions in companies and organizations such as the National Basketball Association (NBA), Walt Disney (Disney Channel), Marvel Entertainment and Viacom (Showtime Networks). "David's appointment adds further weight to the senior management team, and we are delighted to have someone of David's calibre and expertise joining our Group. We have made great progress in developing our business in the United States, and David will now lead the management team in the implementation of our growth plans to take advantage of the opportunities available across the Americas," said Ian Penrose, chief executive officer of Sportech.
