Research in Motion Partners with Perform
The famous company behind Blackberry smartphones, Research In Motion (RIM) has closed a marketing deal with sports media group PERFORM, making its Goal football site its official marketing partner for Africa and the Middle East. The deal involves the Nigerian, Ghanaian, Kenyan, Egyptian, South African, Qatar, UAE and Jordanian markets, and represents the first pan-regional marketing partnership for Goal in these regions. It will also see Goal place high visibility advertising and develop an exclusive BlackBerry mobile micro-site for direct access to 9.6 million mobile users. In addition, Goal's editorial team will write exclusive articles for the site and its team will be working with RIM to develop localized promotions and competitions in each market. In his comment on the new development, Daryn Wober, Managing Director, Global Business Development, PERFORM said: "This is a very exciting development in the evolution of Goal.com as both a global and a local platform. Our ambition has always been to provide our users with the best and most relevant football content which in turn will provide RIM with an opportunity to reach an engaged local audience."
