UK Grassroots Football Supported by Betway
A report arrived this week that online gambling group Betway has started an initiative to support grassroots football in the UK, which includes providing team kits in partnership with Toga Sports and an online support community on Grassrootsfc website to 5-a-side and 11-a-side teams all over the country. Thanks to the partnership with Toga, grassroots teams can get new, branded team kits via the site by depositing a minimum of GBP 20 and wagering a minimum of GBP 60 at Betway. Also, the site provides info on where to play, details of leagues around the country and information on how to set up a new team. In addition to this, a Betway spokesman said that the company, which currently sponsors the Trinity Mirror fantasy football league, plans to donate over 10,000 of its full team kits of shirts, shorts and socks. Apart from the kits, this promo will also offer balls and other merchandise, and the company also announced that it's preparing a national tournament based on regional heats for 2013. “We believe this is a fantastic opportunity to promote the amateur game. We're aiming not just to help teams get free kits, but to become a central hub of information, offering a place for amateur football teams to manage their fixtures, results and profile in one convenient place,” said Jas Deol, head of sports at Betway. “Grassroots football in the UK needs a boost, and we're delighted to partner with Toga Sports and Football Mitoo in making it as easy as possible for teams to get playing,” he added.
