Update: Tabcorp vs. Aussie Federal Court Sees New Round Won by Tabcorp

In the case initially brought by Sportsbet Pty Ltd. in relation to the operation of branded self-service Internet betting kiosks, the appeal filed by Tabcorp and the State of Victoria against a Federal Court judgment from August 2011 has been allowed by the Full Court of the Federal Court.

The judgment was unanimously passed by Justices Emmett, Kenny and Middleton, and it implies that Sportsbet is prohibited from installing and operating its betting kiosks in Victorian licensed premises and other retail spaces.

It was stated by the company regarding the new development: "Tabcorp welcomes this judgment. This decision will help ensure a healthy Victorian racing industry and allows the Victorian Government to regulate betting in public places in Victoria."
