A clarification arrived this week from French gambling authority ARJEL regarding its position in a cooperation agreement it inked with the Spanish Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego last month.
In its statement, ARJEL specified that the agreement signed by Alejo Enrique Gonzalez, chief executive officer of the Dirección General de Juego del Ordenación (DGOJ) and Jean-François Vilotte, President of ARJEL, aims at bringing the fight against illegal sites to a new, higher level, but also strives to preserve the ethics of sport competitions and enhance player protection.
According to Vilotte, who was elected in Strasbourg as vice chairman of the committee drafting an international convention against manipulation of sports results under the aegis of the Council of Europe, this bilateral agreement will not serve for mutual pooling of poker games, as French legislative restrictions do not allow for it.
