Regular Referees Back on the Field
It seems that NFL referees are back on the field and it's big news in the sports world. Players as well as fans are pleased as punch to have some normalcy back in the NFL after it seems the lockout has come to an end. The naming of the officiating crew for Thursday evenings Baltimore-Cleveland has been announced. The NFL has announced the names of the crew members set to work this evening's game. They are the first to set foot on the field since a contract agreement was made with the league Wednesday. This new deal marks the end of a dispute that began in June which had replacements working preseason games and beyond into the first three weeks of the regular season. Now into his 10th season with the NFL, Gene Steratore will referee this tonight's game. Serving as umpire will be Bill Schuster, head linesman Wayne Mackie, line Judge Jeff Seeman, field judge Bob Waggoner, side judge Jimmy DeBell, back judge Greg Steed, replay official Larry Nemmers and replay assistant Ken Dollar. Going forward, all officials for weekend games shall be released on the day of the game.
