11 European Countries Banned by Vernons

News broke this week that Sportech betting subsidiary Vernons informed its players that they will no longer accept deposits from the residents of 11 European countries, without providing any reason for the decision.

The email sent to notify players of the changes reads:

"Due to the current regulatory position with regard to online gambling we have made the decision to no longer accept transactions from residents of the following countries - Brazil, Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Latvia, Pakistan, Poland, Russia and Sweden.

"As you can no doubt imagine we are disappointed that this decision has had to be made and we ask that you accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

"Should you have any unused account balance you may continue to place bets up to the 11th September 2012. Alternatively you may simply prefer to withdraw any unused funds before the account is closed on this date.

"Any unsettled bets on your account after the 11th September 2012 will stand and any winnings due will be forwarded directly to the credit/debit card registered."

Many now relate this move with Vernon's previous announcements of the promotion of the Europa online casino as an alternative to its own services.
