Tragedy at Houston’s Reliant Stadium
There have been a series of deaths in the sports world these days. On Thursday it was reported that a man fell from an escalator at Reliant Stadium during an NFL preseason game. According to the Houston police department, the 45-year old man had attempted to slide down the outside of the handrail on an escalator during the third quarter of the Houston Texans' game against the Minnesota Vikings. He plummeted three stories and was killed. A statement was released by Reliant Park which confirmed that a man had fallen from an escalator and was rushed to a local hospital. The identity of the deceased is unknown and was not released. Witnesses to the accident said he couldn't have survived that fall. “There's no way he would have lived,” one witness told Fox Sports. “Instantly we knew what really happened.” This particular witness said that the man fell not far behind him. There was a “loud thud” when he hit the pavement which was followed by screams and looks of horror from onlookers. The witness ran for help as some folks even pulled out their camera phones to capture the tragedy.
