Australian Digital NBL broadcasting contract for sports media company
An announcement came this week from sports media company PERFORM that it has nailed a deal for the first Australian live coverage of NBL matches across multiple digital platforms, which will enable it to enter the multi-platform digital rights space.
The lucrative multi-annual deal has been closed with Basketball Australia and it has been specified that it will enter into force with the 2012/13 NBL season. Based on the deal, PERFORM will be able to broadcast every NBL game live across the internet through mobile, iPad and PC.
According to Kristina Keneally, chief executive officer of Basketball Australia, "This is a landmark deal in Australian sport - the very first of its kind in our country. The increased visibility the NBL will receive from Network Ten's live game coverage coupled with PERFORM's digital, mobile and online broadcasting will be a boon for our sport nation-wide."
On the other side, Chris Mutimer, managing director of PERFORM Australia said: "The deal sees our international digital broadcast capability launching in Australia, and establishes a unique end-to-end solution for sports focused on driving new revenue streams."
