Public criticism does the trick
After being severely criticized for refusing to pay out the winnings to a Brit granny Linda Aldred, based on a trivial technicality, Betfred decided to give in and pay the GBP1000 to the woman who fairly won the money when she placed the bet that her grandson, an Olympic gymnast Sam Oldham would take a medal.
The decision was made in consultation with IBAS, and when the company announced its change of heart, it added that it is the "right thing to do."
