Daniel Agger doesn't want to leave Liverpool

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger stated he wants to stay at Anfield but admits the decision may not be entirely up to him. Manchester City have had two enquiries about the defender rejected. But new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admitted they may be forced to sell Daniel Agger if Manchester City come up with a good enough offer. Daniel Agger is 27 years old and plays as a centre-back, with a secondary role as a left back. He joined Liverpool in 2006 from Danish club Brondby and has made 170 appearances for the Reds, scoring 8 goals. "I'd rather stay," Agger stated in a Danish newspaper. "I can't imagine playing for any other club in England but you never know if the club think it's better to sell." Manchester City have indicated they would be willing spend around £18m for the Denmark international but they are also considering offering Adam Johnson on loan as part of a potential deal. Agger has entered the final two years of his contract and talks on a new deal have stalled but he doesn't seem to be upset about that: "I am fine with my situation, the club will have to find out what they want to do. I've heard nothing from them. I'd rather stay but that decision is not up to me at the moment. Liverpool can do a deal even though I have two years on my contract, but I haven't changed my mind on the subject. Sometimes you can end up in a position where it's not your decision. I don't want to be somewhere I am not wanted but I would prefer if they want me to stay. That is my priority." Agger's partner at the heart of Liverpool's defence, Martin Skrtel, is close to agreeing a new long-term contract at Anfield. Talks between the parties had stalled over the summer but discussions between the Skrtel and club are now close to reaching a positive resolution.
