While going through items in his grandfather's attic, Karl Kissner discovered an old cardboard box underneath a dollhouse. To his surprise, there were baseball card inside but there was something different about them. They were not as large as the ones he is familiar with yet many of the names were recognizable.
Baseball Hall of Fame players were included in this stack of cards including Ty Cobb, Cy Young and Honus Wagner.
As part of a rare 1910 series, it turns out that the cards have the potential to be worth millions of dollars.
The condition is amazing. Most known cards from the series have typical wear but these have been unscathed for more than a century.
"It's like finding the Mona Lisa in the attic" Kissner said.
"Every future find will ultimately be compared to this," said Joe Orlando, president of Professional Sports Authenticator.
There are 37 cards that are considered the best of the best with a value of $500,000. They will be featured in the National Sports Collectors Convention in Baltimore. Experts believe that the collection of 700 cards which includes Christy Mathewson and Connie Mack could fetch $3m.
"These cards need to be with those people who appreciate and enjoy them," Kissner said.
