Police suspects the service to be connected to SBObet sportsbook
According to media agencies in Pattaya, Thailand, the local police raided a sports betting call centre which it believes is associated with internet sportsbook SBObet, shutting it down for illegal gambling activity.
It was stated by Lt.Col. Sutin Suandokmai of the Bangkok police that the centre was located in an upmarket bungalow in Butsarakam Village just outside Bangkok, and that they managed to identify it thanks to an undercover, sting operation.
During the raid, the police seized evidence and computer and communications equipment, and arrested three women and a man, all under the age of 35.
According to the confession of one of the women, she had rented the house recently with the intention of using it as a sports betting call centre, adding that she had been provided with some $155,000 to get the operation up and running in time for the Euro 2012 football championships.
