Euro 2012 gambling triggers more police actions
Another report arrived this week about anti-Euro 2012 raids in Malaysia, this time in George Town, where another betting ring has been broken up.
The raid was conducted in a cyber cafe after undercover investigations, and resulted in the arrest of three men and seizure of hardware and documentary evidence, along with cash.
According to a police spokesman, the operation organized high value online bets, mainly on international football, and it was added by Secret Societies, Gambling and Vice staff officer DSP Zailani Amit that there are certain indications that the illegal enterprise had been offering wagers on the Euro 2012 football championships.
A similar action was conducted by police in Bangkok, Thailand, where 60 people were arrested, five of them bookies.
