Briere Leads Flyers to Victory and the Series Continues
Danny Briere knocked in a winning goal at 4:36 of the overtime clock leading the Philadelphia Flyers to victory. Briere notched his 7th of the playoffs and 2nd of the afternoon and landing the Game 1 win. The Flyers took a 4-3 victory at the Wells Fargo Center in Philly. The New Jersey Devils took the lead in the first but Briere scored at 8:07 of the second to tie up the game. “I don't really have an answer for that. In my mind, a lot of it is mental. You see guys that sometimes, they become a little afraid to make a mistake. And you see other guys, they just thrive,” Briere said of his performance. The odds for the Philly Flyers are 7/2 to win the Stanley Cup this year, with the Phoenix Coyotes 6/1 and the LA Kings 11/4. Continuing their great start to the Western Conference semi-finals, the Phoenix Coyotes celebrated a second straight victory over the Nashville Predators. Game 3 of the series heads back to Nashville on Wednesday, May 2nd as the two teams play off to go up against the winner of the St. Louis vs. Los Angeles series.
