High Demands Wreak Havoc on Ladbrokes
Imagine settling in to place an important bet on a prestigious event that only comes once per year and your bookmaker is unable to take your bet or pay out your winnings. Punters were none too happy with Ladbrokes as one of largest sportsbooks was incapacitated on busiest betting day of the year. Ladbrokes suffered a major technical error on Saturday deeming it impossible to pay their clients that had placed winning wagers on the Grand National. Although they claim to provide “interactive betting services 24 hours a day seven days a week”, they experienced some difficulty managing the demands of the National and the Scottish and English FA Cup semi-finals. On Monday, Ladbrokes made an apology to those that were affected by the mishap. A spokesman, David Williams, denied that all online bettors had problems and said, “Not all the payments were delayed. There may have been isolated instances among the millions of bets. “Only a very small proportion of our customers were affected, less than one per cent. We pride ourselves on providing a market-leading customer experience and apologise to those affected. “Along with several of our competitors we experienced some technical problems on Grand National day due to the very high volume of traffic.”
