British Columbia Prospects For Online Sportsbetting
New sports betting bill awaits only a provincial Senate vote Online and land gambling group Paddy Power could be in a pole position with a new single wager sports betting bill currently moving through the British Columbia provincial legislature. The sports betting measure, introduced by MP Joe Comartin, has safely passed the provincial legislature and now awaits the Senate's approval which is in accordance with last year signed partnership agreement between the British Columbia provincial government and the Irish gambling group. With the law passed, British Columbia Lottery Corporation will be able to offer provincial punters a better sports betting option on individual events, and according to Kim Steinbart, BCLC spokesperson, to focus on enhancing its internet sports betting options on the Playnow website. It is also interesting what some observers have pointed out about the fact that the Corporation has been cutting costs; also a chief exec Michael Graydon was talking about "fundamental changes" and Playnow systems being decommissioned, with a "highly specialized architecture" being brought in. Obviously it would include a new internet casino management system and could be a clue as to Paddy Power's involvement.
