Betezy May Lose Its Aussie License?
The operator's suitability for the license discussed by Northern Territory Licensing Commission There may be some bad news ahead for the Australian online bookie Betezy, whose license and its future in Australia is being decided by Northern Territory Licensing commissioners. The commission is looking into the company's activities and its association with four AFL clubs and three NRL clubs, trying to find out whether they are authorized by the territory's Racing and Betting Act and the conditions of its license. Another reason for the investigation may be the fact that the NT Racing Commission heard allegations that the bookmaker has not paid some clubs the full amount owed under its contracts to operate club ''white label'' internet websites. Namely, a lawsuit was initiated in November 2011 by the Knights club, owned by mining magnate Nathan Tinkler, in which it was claimed that Betezy owed the club more than A$200,000 in fees and a share of profits from the Knightsbet website. It appears that this case was settled with a confidential agreement. Another club that may have had a problem with the operator is the Kangaroos, who apparently walked away from the deal with Betezy to run the Roosbet website in December last year. The club spokesman said the termination was by mutual agreement. At the moment, three of the white label sites - Knightsbet, Roosbet and Crowsbet seem to be shut down, and from them, visitors get redirected to the main Betezy website.
