Italian intentions presented to the European Commission
After the announcement that the Italian government has informed the European Commission of its plan to regulate online betting exchange operations, Betfair issued a statement, announcing its pleasure with the news and stating that it could submit an application to operate in the market under its existing Italian online gambling license.
"The company looks forward to working with the Italian authorities to obtain this authorisation over the coming months," it was stated.
"The Ministerial Decree will now be reviewed by the European Commission, after which it will be returned to the Italian Ministry of Finance for signing following which it will enter into force."
