Update: New Details about Sale of Will Hill’s Irish Estate
Irish online business in focus of the UK bookmaker In regard to the announcement that William Hill is selling its 15 Irish shops to Irish bookmaker Boylesports, a new report arrived involving more details about the acquisition. One of the details revealed by a Will Hill statement is the consideration which Boyle Sports will pay - EUR1.5 million cash. In addition, the UK bookmaker also expects to incur GBP 2 million in exceptional costs related to the disposal of its Irish retail business. In regard to the deal, which should be finalized in December, Brian McColgan, regional operations controller, William Hill, said: “The time came for us to either expand our retail estate in Ireland or to concentrate our efforts on our thriving Irish online and mobile betting businesses. We took a lot of time to consider our options and decided the restrictive nature of the Irish retail betting sector would have made expansion financially unviable.”
