Boyle Sports saves jobs
According to latest industry reports, 15 William Hill's betting shops in Ireland are to be taken over by a local bookie Boyle Sports for an unknown amount.
This way, it is claimed by Boyle Sports, 65 Irish jobs will be saved, and when the deal is finalized, Boyle will have 176 retail shops in total and employ almost 1,100 people
Previously, Boyle acquired 17 Irish shops from Celtic Bookmakers. As for its latest acquisition, the company announced that the shops will be launched under its own branding before the end of 2011.
In a comment on the expansion move, John Boyle, Boyle Sports CEO and founder, said: 'Times are difficult for everyone in these recessionary times and we at Boylesports are thrilled that we can help save jobs and continue to show our commitment to the Irish retail betting industry. This latest takeover will complement our existing shops and further cement our position as the largest independent bookmaker in Ireland.'
