First Sports Betting App for US Market Approved by Nevada
LEROY's App available to iPhone users It seems like the US market is definitely opening up to new trends, as this week the American Wagering, Inc. (AWI), the parent company of Nevada's independent sportsbook operator Leroy's Sportsbook (Leroy's) and Computerized Bookmaking Systems, Inc. (CBS) race and sports technology provider, got a field trial approval from the Nevada Gaming Control Board for the first mobile sports betting application in the US - LEROY'S® APP. The application is initially designed for iPhone in the United States and it will work on the new Apple iOS5 update as well as the 3GS, iPhone 4, and 4s models. In the future, the company specified, the application will be submitted for approval to operate on iPad additional smartphone devices. According to John English, Senior Vice President of American Wagering, Inc, "We are grateful the Gaming Control Board, the Commission, and their respective staff have embraced the vision of the future with mobile wagering and our account based systems. Their work to review and approve our technical advancements serves only to improve the industry as a whole and to better serve the customer. The addition of the iPhone is a huge leap forward.” On the other side, Vic Salerno, President of Leroy's explained: "Leroy's is everywhere, for everyone, at anytime, and we've been here for 33 years. I have been doing this a long time. You see over time what works and what doesn't. I can tell you that mobile wagering is where we are heading and I believe the rest of the gaming industry will follow, in the meantime we will continue to lead."
