Centrebet to Get Major Financial Boost

Aug 19, 2011
A$90.7 million refund of sales tax could come in handy Good news may be close at hand for the Australian online betting company Centrebet, as its pursuit of a sales tax refund worth AUD 90.7 million seems to be getting in sight. According to the company statement, issued this week, the Commissioner of Taxation advised it that he has decided not to appeal against an earlier and similar case won by fellow betting company Sportsbet. What's more, "the commissioner's solicitors have informed Centrebet Pty Ltd that they are instructed that he will not re-argue the issues in the Centrebet proceedings." Another detail the two companies have in common is that they have both been recently acquired – Sportsbet by Paddy Power and Centrebet by Sportingbet.
