Swedish Employee Swindles Money For Gambling Habit

A 30 year old clerk went on a year long gambling spree with money she stole from local store in Sweden. The owner noticed hundreds of thousand of kronor missing from his books and suspected it was the clerk. With assistance from Svenska Spel, a state gambling monopoly, tracked her gambling activity his hunch seemed to be right. In a years time the clerk had wagered SEK418,400 and profited SEK300,000. Svenska Spel said the woman had a distinctive gambling pattern that guaranteed personal profit by using stolen money. The clerk has denied stealing and when asked where she got that kind of money to gamble she said from her mother. She will face prosecution in a local court where she will have to explain in detail how she paid for her gambling expenses.
