Sportsbetting license requested
It has been announced this week by Bet365.com co-CEO and founder Denise Coates that the company has decided to pursue its first offshore venture, and has therefore applied for an online gambling license in Australia.
If the company obtains the license, from the Northern Territory government, it will be able start operating from a Darwin base by end 2011.
The Australian law only allows online gambling for in-play and sports betting wagering. Currently, there is a number of UK gambling firms active in the Downunder market, including Paddy Power Betfair and Sportingbet.
