Jan 07, 2011
Industry executives take up an unusual challenge for charity A team of ten industry executives, including veterans such as Nigel Payne of Sportingbet fame and Betfair founder Andrew Black, decided to climb Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro in February in order to raise money for charity under sponsorship of Sportingbet. Apart from Sportingbet, there are also other companies that made generous donations: William Hill, Party Gaming, bet365 and Betfair. The goal of this particular action is to raise GBP50,000, and they already managed to collect GBP32 000. The money is intended for three charities: the Israel Sport Centre for the Disabled; Breast Cancer Care and the Injured Jockey's Fund. This week was rather active in Sportingbet, which also announced the five-year sponsorship of the Queen Mother Champion Chase, an important element in the Cheltenham Festival. The agreement will see an investment of GBP2 million in prize money.
