Tote to Be Sold?

Majority of racing industry prefers Tote as an independent body The ongoing dispute between the British bookie industry and the horseracing fraternity has seen another turn this week, when the media reported that the British government's move to put the Tote back for sale caused discontent among racing supporters. However, a number of big bookie groups from the UK have showed interest in acquiring the betting company. According to the media reports, the Tote management has suggested the company could become a viable and independent foundation, and that racecourse owners, horse owners and jockeys are supporting the proposal. The tricky part is that the alternative comes rather late, as the deadline for bids expired on Dec. 10. It was reported that they received about 20 bids.
