  • So... Barclays ATP World Tour Finals starts today:

    Djokovic - Thiem

    Raonic - Monfils

There are many question marks around these players' form, injuries, motivation, but I still think we can expect good and entertaining matches.

  • Here are the odds for today's matches at NetBet:

Novak Djokovic [sRB] vs  Dominic Thiem [AUT]

    1.13 - 6.30

Milos Raonic [CAN] vs  Gael Monfils [FRA]

    1.83 - 2.00

    Good luck!

  • Great turn around by Djokovic against Thiem, hope after London he will be back on no.1.

  • Djokovic did well to hammer Thiem after having lost the first set, Raonic waltzed past Monfils.

    (5) JPN Kei Nishikori d. (3) SUI Stan Wawrinka 62 63

  • Djokovic secured his place in the semi-finals after winning two tie-breaks against Raonic, Thiem beat Monfils to boost his chances of pulling through.

Stan Wawrinka [sUI] vs  Marin Cilic [CRO]

    2.10 - 1.74

    Good luck!

  • Tough match for Murray but he managed to battle past Nishikori, Wawrinka beat Cilic to preserve a theoretical chance of advancing to the semi-finals.

    (1) GBR Andy Murray d. (5) JPN Kei Nishikori 67 64 64

    1.33 - 3.30

    Good luck!

  • Goffin replaced Monfils and got hammered by Djokovic, Raonic joins the former number one in the semi-finals.

    (2) SRB Novak Djokovic d. (9)  BEL David Goffin 61 62

Novak Djokovic [sRB] vs  Kei Nishikori [JPN]

    1.21 - 4.55

    Good luck!

  • I expect great match tomorow between Murray and Djokovic, interesting that Djokovic has 1.4 odd and Murray 2.75 even though Murray is no.1 and in better form than Djokovic.

  • Djokovic had a much easier semi-final than Murray, who had to battle past a very determined Raonic.

    (1) GBR Andy Murray d.  (4) CAN Milos Raonic 57 76 76

    (2) SRB Novak Djokovic d. (5) JPN Kei Nishikori 61 61

  • Last match of the season coming up, the big final in London, here are the odds at NetBet:

Andy Murray [GBR] vs  Novak Djokovic [sRB]

    2.70 - 1.48

    Good luck!

  • Easier than expected for Andy Murray, 6-3 6-4 and he ends the year as world number 1. Djokovic did wake up but it was too late, he rescued two match points but eventually cracked. I think we'll have quite an interesting season next year.

  • I didn't want to watch the final at all, but at the end I couldn't resist it.

Even though many has predicted that Djokovic would win, I knew that was not going to happen. Murray looked like a man on a mission, and he was not going to lose the final. That semifinal win over Raonic had only a positive impact, and was a confidence boost. So huge congrats to Murray, he was the most consistent one this year.  He really deserved this.

And Djokovic..... he did show some passion for tennis again last week, but then in the final, when it mattered the most, he disappeared - from 3-3 in the first set till 4-1 in the second, totally unrecognizable. But his fight at the end, though too late, I think it shows that he still cares.

I'm sure that he will have to make a decision, either he will go back to tennis or he will take some time off. I don't think that any player of such caliber can just play tennis for fun, with no clear goal. We'll see very soon.

But I also have to add that Djokovic did have a great season, two slams, and during the time where he "didn't play well", he won Toronto, was in the US Open and YE Championships finals.

  • For me also dissapointed match by Djokovic, like he was another person in finals, of corse Murray is a lot better than Nishikori but , Djokovic showed no pasihon . Next season will be even harder for him to get back on no1 cuz he has a lots of points to defend at the start of the season.

  •

    I bet you're right Markotic ;)

Certainly not if you been N1 for the most of the past few years...play for fun...what's that :)

The news from today is that Djokovic broke up with Becker !! I guess it's the start of the alteration for him.

Murray is so confident after regathering  the partnership with Lendl which just shows that the most vital events almost ever occurs in your own head.

The good news for Djoko is that...it could hardly become worst...but like an optimist would say ...it could.

Yes, it does sound funny. :) But he said that he was going to just try and enjoy tennis again, and that he won't chase number one spot or titles anymore. That was before Masters in Shanghai. Since then, I've been wondering what his goal is than, to play tennis just for fun? :)

Is that official? I couldn't find it anywhere, only that Djokovic didn't want to confirm Becker as a coach.

Were I Murray, I wouldn't change a thing, as well. :D Everything seems to be working well for him.

  • Well, you can only have fun if you play well and win. There is absolutely no fun in losing :)

I thought it is, but obviously it's not, I can't even find where exactly I read that...but I'm willing to think there a bit of truth there.

    You're dead right Johnny  ;)

  • Here's an interesting interview with Becker. There's a little bit of mine quoting in the article, but video is interesting. He's perhaps too honest, but surely objective.

Federer and Nadal's absences hurt Djokovic

  • Davis Cup final kicks off today with the first two singles matches, here are the odds at NetBet:

Marin Cilic [CRO] vs  Federico Delbonis [ARG]

    1.08 - 8.00

Ivo Karlovic [CRO] vs  Juan Martin Del Potro [ARG]

    4.45 - 1.22

    Good luck!

  • No surprises in the first day, Cilic got his win even in five sets, while Del Potro beat Karlovic. 1-1 ahead of the doubles match.

    Marin Cilic d. Federico Delbonis 63 75 36 16 62

    Juan Martin Del Potro d. Ivo Karlovic 64 67 36 57

  • Doubles match coming up, here are the odds at NetBet:

    Dodig / Skugor vs  L.Mayer / G.Pella

    1.48 - 2.70

    Good luck!

  • Both teams changed their doubles, adding their number one players to the line-up. In the end Croatia seemed to have made the right choice as Dodig and Cilic eased past Del Potro and Mayer. Only one more win is needed for Croatia to lift the Davis Cup.

    Cilic M. / Dodig I. d. Del Potro J. / Mayer L. 76 76 63

  • Decisive day in the Davis Cup final, Croatia need just one more win to clinch it. Here are the odds at NetBet:

Marin Cilic [CRO] vs  Juan Martin Del Potro [ARG]

    2.75 - 1.47

Ivo Karlovic [CRO] vs  Federico Delbonis [ARG]

    1.44 - 2.85

    Good luck!

  • Argentina won their first ever Davis Cup trophy, especially thanks to Juan Martin Del Potro. He pulled off an amazing comeback against Cilic, fought back from two sets down and eventually won after almost five hours of play.

    Juan Martin Del Potro d. Marin Cilic 67 26 75 64 63

    Federico Delbonis d. Ivo Karlovic 63 64 62

  • It was a great final, and the match between del Potro and Cilic very entertaining and intense.

  • More gossip. :)

Well, latest rumor is  that Djokovic got under influence of Maja Volk, and we all know Pepe Imaz from the last few weeks of the season.

I don't want to say anything bad about Volk, she survived cancer, but she's a very aggressive vegan person. And though I have a great respect for what Novak promotes, professional athletes require specific food. Perhaps I am old-school, and Novak will prove me wrong.

  • I don't think you can be a top professional athlete on a vegan diet, it could work for amateur athletes (in fact I know a few), but a top professional needs a balanced diet.

woo Just saw your post and that was exactly what I've considered in the last weeks Johnny, like those are my thoughts written here.

I wasn't sure about the Djokovic diet even from the day I've heard  about it but after that I though it obviously works for him if the guy is world N1 but I think the thing is that it couldn't be so wrong in short term aspect -6monts to a year ,year and a half maybe but in long terms when you're on court almost every day spending hours in immense physical efforts you need every calorie your body has and I don't think whatever super food could give you that.

For sure Djokovic would not be a fat guy even if he eats 5 stakes every day, but in the moment he looks painfully thin and whatever specialists tells us how good is that for court movement you need power and strength not less than stamina.

The other guy I think of right away is Neil Robertson the snooker player, I'm sure you know him, he looks as thin as ever almost like he's sick or something, every since he turn to a vegan his career going down I think and snooker is not even a physiology sport but what about tennis.

It's another theme if there's something in the mind of those two athletes that bothers them and not allowing to be on their best but certainly physically they're not lookiing right at the moment.
