Sochi 2014
« on: February 07, 2014, 07:42:31 AM »
I've read some awful reports about the host of Winter Olympics Sochi. I found different articles all over Internet but this one has put everything together.

It looks really awful; we all have heard statements about gay athletes, but it seems that dogs and cats are being murdered, the environment destroyed, migrant workers arenít being paid.. and many others.

I was watching on TV workers from Serbia who were talking about really bad working conditions.

The games are just about to start and I can't wait to see how good organization will be.

What do you guys think? Are those things just some propaganda tricks? Or is it really that bad? I can't wait to see.

I have seen endless tweets from journalists who didn't get the rooms in time, no water, heating, weird bathroom arrangements, and the list goes on...
I am not sure what to think, it is hard to believe that it is all a lie, and if it is true, then I guess that The Olympic committee should do something about it...

I guess these are team toilets!

I don't think they are lying either, it's just the Russian government way to do things: steal as much money as possible and hope things work out somehow.

I just hope the athletes are safe even though I have my worries.

It's terrible all that is being said, I don't even know why they chose there. I mean it seems like very unsafe environment for all. The athletes are under enough stress without having to live in those kind of conditions. It's a real shame.

I missed the opening, but read about the Olympic circles fail. The circle representing North and South America simply didn't open like the other ones... Coincidence??

The cost of these games is 30 billion - this costs more than all the other winter olympic games put together!

Yes, too much money has been spent on Sochi, I can only imagine the corruption. Even if everything is just a speculation, it doesn't look good at all.

There is a documentary showing some interesting facts about the Shoci Olympics, it's called "Putin's Games". It was banned in Russia, obviously.

The whole thing is beyond weird, so much money for what?!
I would just pause all the Olympics until some problems were solved... I know it is all a business, but come on, splashing that absurd sum of money while some people are starving....
