  • The new Formula 1 season kicks off this weekend and everybody is hoping that it will be a spectacular one. The cars are faster, more difficult to drive, and Ferrari seem to be catching up with Mercedes.

    Lewis Hamilton - 2.05

    Sebastian Vettel - 4.35

    Valtteri Bottas - 5.50

    Kimi Raikkonen - 8.50

    Daniel Ricciardo - 11.00

    Max Verstappen - 12.00

    Felipe Massa - 76.00

    Fernando Alonso - 151.00

    Lance Stroll - 301.00

    Nico Hulkenberg - 351.00

    Sergio Perez - 401.00

    Jolyon Palmer - 2001.00

    Pascal Wehrlein - 2001.00

    Good luck!

  • Hopefully it wont be one horse race this season and Ferrari and Red Bull would catch up because otherwise there won't be any competition for Hamilton after Rosberg's I could call it stupid retirement.

  • Vettel won the first race of the season, it looks like we're going to have an exciting season after all!

  • Vettel won but this is one of his favourite tracks really so probably that couldn't  be a general compend for us what is exactly the balance of force this season. If I remember right he started with a win in Australia last season too and then all go wrong for Ferrari, but maybe they are closer this season.

Not really, Ferrari have not won any races last season. The last win for them was in 2015, but not at the Australian GP. Vettel won this race just once before, in 2011, he was at Red Bull at the time.

woo I really messed up that big time isn't it :-[, I knew it I should check before posting but  forgot and counted on my memory for it - quite bad move really :)

Vettel finished 3rd last year so I guess it stayed in my mind as a win because of the dominant Mercedes team and there's really should be another trophy for the fastest of the reast in the last few years, the presumption that this is one of his favourite races is because of  his winnings in the last season and this ;)

And I  still think it's too early to praise Ferrari, especially if we see where Raikkonen finished compared to both Mercedes, but certainly Ferrari are closer if not equal to them and these are good signs for a great championship to come I guess.

  • Solid race for Hamilton in China and a deserved win, but it's quite clear that he will face a tough battle against Vettel this season.

Yes hopefully  Johnny, although I still believe Hamilton is a favourite I really hope Vettel could give a good battle this season, one thing is certain though Ferrari really getting it closer..and hopefully they'll improve further through the season.

  • We'll most likely have an interesting race in Bahrain today, with Valtteri Bottas starting from pole position for the first time in his career. Here are the odds at NetBet:

  • Bottas won his first ever race last weekend, could we have a three-horse race for the title this year?

Hopefully Johnny but I think it would be just between Vettel and Hamilton, still great to see Bottas win his first ever race but I think he's clearly N2 even in his team, even Rosberg was last season I think when some important decisions were about to be taken but I think is quite normal thing now when we know how much more experienced than Bottas, Hamilton is.

  • Superb victory for Hamilton in Barcelona, a race which saw big names like Raikkonen, Verstappen and Bottas fail to finish.

  • I don't know what happened in the second half of the race, Vettel looked the fastest car on track but all of a sudden Hamilton find a great speed to win it.

It was strange how easily he got passed Vettel when we see that gap on the final is under 4 seconds, I guess tires has something to do with that but watching the race on the German RTL channel doesn't helped me at all to find the exact reason for that.

  • I think it was because of the tires, Hamilton was on soft tires and Vettel was on medium. It was a bit of a gamble for Mercedes but it paid off.

  • Great victory for Vettel in Monte Carlo, he is gaining ground at the top of the overall classification. Hamilton did well to finish seventh after his terrible performance in qualifying.

  • Yes Vettel did very well to finish 4th, he was 7th just couple of laps to the final, another one or two and he could easily finishing 3rd, but he cut the damage really well after the contact with Verstappen on the start with some great and brave overtakes in the final laps.

  • Crazy race in Baku, totally nuts! Vettel collided with Hamilton behind the safety car at a certain point, the race was even stopped. Anyway, Ricciardo took advantage and won the race, and rookie Lance Stroll got a great podium placement.

  • Yes you're right Johnny, quite dramatic race, maybe Vettel overreacted to that Hamilton provocation behind the safety car but in the end they both were penalised which was quite fair  think.

Huge achievement for Stroll despite that he lost even the second place at the finish.

  • Second victory of the season for Bottas and another great performance from Ricciardo, he is surely winning the in-house battle with Max Verstappen. Vettel grabbed another few points in the battle with Hamilton.

The thing is Verstappen struggling to finish any of the races lately but I think in many of the accidents he suffered from quite bad luck too, like in today's race...but Ricciardo is definitely the more consistent pilot.

We only speak about Hamilton v Vettel battle but when you looking at the standings Bottas is right there after Hamilton and quietly doing his job, could he be a world champion?

Yeah, he's been doing very well this season. If he wins the next race then he'll surely be a genuine title contender.

  • Mercedes dominated the British Grand Prix, Hamilton is now just one point behind Vettel in the race for the title.

  • Vettel had a steer wheel issue so Ferrari won that double victory but..just.

To say the least I'm not at all a Hamilton fan but what he has done today was admirable I think, to be honest I didn't expect he would return the favour to Bottas in the end but it was a proper move from him, I hope he wont loose the title because of those 3 points or less...but with more ;)
