Today's stage is a brutal one, there are three third-category climbs, one second-category climb and it all ends with the first-category climb to Mount Zoncolan. It is probably the most difficult climb in Europe, 10km long and with an average gradient of 12%. We might not know who will win this year's Giro at the end of the day, but we will surely know who won't win it.

Here are the odds for stage 14 at Sportingbet:

Simon Yates (GBR) 4.25
Domenico Pozzovivo (ITA) 5.50
Miguel Angel Lopez (COL) 6.50
Giulio Ciccone (ITA) 9.00
Thibaut Pinot (FRA) 12.00
Tom Dumoulin (NED) 14.00
Chris Froome (GBR) 21.00
Fabio Aru (ITA) 26.00
Robert Gesink (NED) 26.00
George Bennett (NZL) 34.00
Wout Poels (NED) 34.00
Ben Hermans (BEL) 51.00
John Darwin Atapuma (COL) 51.00
Michael Woods (CAN) 51.00
Kenny Elissonde (FRA) 67.00
Alessandro De Marchi (ITA) 101.00
Tim Wellens (BEL) 101.00
Alexandre Geniez (FRA) 101.00
Patrick Konrad (AUT) 101.00

Good luck!

Chris Froome has regained his confidence today, he attacked on the fearsome final climb and managed to hold out for the win. The time gaps were not very impressive, in fact Tom Dumoulin did a very good job to limit his losses towards Yates to just 31 seconds. Miguel Angel Lopez has also done a great job and moves up into the general classification. Fabio Aru and Davide Formolo lost over two minutes, while Richard Carapaz also dropped more than a minute.

Stage 14 results

Complicated stage today, with three second-category climbs in rapid succession before the climb to the finish line, we could see some attacks and some signs of weakness from team leaders as well.

Here are the odds for stage 15 at Sportingbet:

Giulio Ciccone (ITA) 8.00
Chris Froome (GBR) 15.00
Thibaut Pinot (FRA) 19.00
Giovanni Visconti (ITA) 19.00
Domenico Pozzovivo (ITA) 21.00
Jose Goncalves (POR) 21.00
Jarlinson Pantano Gomez (COL) 21.00
Tom Dumoulin (NED) 26.00
Ben Hermans (BEL) 26.00
Robert Gesink (NED) 26.00
Diego Ulissi (ITA) 26.00
John Darwin Atapuma (COL) 26.00
Miguel Angel Lopez (COL) 26.00
Maximilian Schachmann (GER) 34.00

Fabio Aru (ITA) 67.00
George Bennett (NZL) 67.00
Carlos Betancur (COL) 67.00
Kenny Elissonde (FRA) 101.00

Brilliant ride from Simon Yates, he clinched his third victory at this year's Giro and, more important, put another 41 seconds between him and Tom Dumoulin. Chris Froome paid for yesterday's effort, he lost more than a minute and his dream of winning the Giro is pretty much over now.

Great couple of stages this weekend, yesterday Froome really achieved one of his greatest victories even not on the pick of his form.
But Yates is a something else really...don't think he could loose the Giro now without any crashes or something...still the time trial should be very interesting.

We still have the time trial and three tough mountain stages, anything can happen. But I agree, Yates has been way stronger than the others so far.

Today's stage 16 is of vital importance, the 35km time-trial could put somebody like Tom Dumoulin right back in pole position while some of the climbers could find themselves with significant delays at the end of the day.

Here are the odds for stage 16 at Sportingbet:

Tom Dumoulin (NED) 1.72
Rohan Dennis (AUS) 3.15
Victor Campenaerts (BEL) 5.50
Jos van Emden (NED) 15.00
Chris Froome (GBR) 15.00
Tony Martin (GER) 17.00
Ryan Mullen (IRL) 26.00
Vasil Kiryienka (BLR) 34.00
Wout Poels (NED) 101.00
Remi Cavagna (FRA) 101.00
David De La Cruz Melgarejo (ESP) 101.00
Simon Yates (GBR) 101.00
Thibaut Pinot (FRA) 101.00
Domenico Pozzovivo (ITA) 301.00

Good luck!

Rohan Dennis was definitely the strongest today, he really wanted this victory. As for the general classification, Simon Yates did very well to lose just over a minute to Dumoulin, so he is now in pole position to win the Giro. Fabio Aru pulled off the ride of his life somehow, while Pinot and Pozzovivo lost significant amounts of time. Froome has a good chance of ending up on the podium, while we should witness a good battle for the white jersey between Lopez and Carapaz.

Stage 16 results

1   Rohan Dennis (Aus) BMC Racing Team   0:40:00
2   Tony Martin (Ger) Katusha-Alpecin   0:00:14
3   Tom Dumoulin (Ned) Team Sunweb   0:00:22
4   Jos van Emden (Ned) LottoNL-Jumbo   0:00:27
5   Chris Froome (GBr) Team Sky   0:00:35
6   Fabio Aru (Ita) UAE Team Emirates   0:00:37
7   Alex Dowsett (GBr) Katusha-Alpecin   0:00:40
8   Diego Ulissi (Ita) UAE Team Emirates
9   Chad Haga (USA) Team Sunweb   0:00:47
10   David De La Cruz (Spa) Team Sky   0:01:01

General classification after stage 16

More so now, he limited the losses in the time trial and said will be more defensive from now on.

Decent ride for Froome but what about Aru - just 2 seconds behind Froome after he wanted to quit the race on Sunday,I think Pozzovivo perforemed above expectations and Pinot way too slow - looked exhausted, I guess once more he'll miss the podium.

Aru was out of this world, he never pulled off such a good time-trial, not even in his best form! I'm very curious to hear him speak about this performance, it was incredible. However, I have just read on an Italian site that he was penalized with 20 seconds for riding in the slipstream of a car or something for a while, don't know exactly for how long.

Pinot really crumbled today, he's out of the race for the podium because I think he is going to lose even more time in the mountains.

Yeah, won't be surprised if that's the case Johnny, otherwise he should of took some pills in the rest day :)in the Sunday stage he looked dead and buried and wanted to quit the race, when we know how Aru performs in the time trials when he's in a good shape too, it looks completely illogical...even with a 20 seconds penalty that still looks a too good of a time for his time trials qualities.

His team-mate Ulissi also achieved a great time but in the live coverage I saw him riding after a team mate probably for kilometres so I think he should be penalized too, they've never showed Aru though except on the start and  finish.

Ulissi got penalized with 2 minutes if I remember correctly.
