Baseball Head Shot
« on: June 17, 2013, 09:19:29 AM »
Alex Cobb of the Tampa Bay Rays was taken off the field on a stretcher after he was hit on the right ear by a liner off the bat of Kansas City's Eric Hosmer, apparently the ball was travelling at a speed of 102 miles per hour!

He was then taken to the hospital but apparently he suffered just a mild concussion.

That was very scary. Everyone realized how dangerous it was the second it happened.

I read that he came out of hospital. Hopefully, he'll be ready to play soon.

Wow that had to be scary, when I was little I was the pitcher for baseball. I got hit in the face and never got over the fear. I hope it isn't too hard for him to get back in the game.

He seems OK, just a concussion, but I agree with fried-eggs, he will have to overcome the fear after such a hit. The same thing happens to cyclists after a fall, they are afraid to go full speed on a descent for a while. I know I was quite afraid of cars going by for a while after getting hit by one while cycling.

I can't even imagine how painful that must have been. Glad that he's ok. Hopefully he can get over it and get right back into the game with no fear.

Yeah, I am also sorry for him, but he is better now, right? I think players assume that such accidents would happen to them, unfortunately, that's one of th disadvantages of their work.
