International Friendly: Netherlands vs Italy preview
The Netherlands will try to redeem themselves in front of their fans when they host Italy on Tuesday in Amsterdam in a high-profile international friendly match. Italy have won the last friendly match against Holland 2-0 in 2014, while the previous two friendlies ended in draws. The Netherlands beat Italy 3-0 at Euro 2008, but that was their only victory against the Italians in the last seven direct matches. The Netherlands are going through a disappointing World Cup qualification campaign and the FA sacked head coach Danny Blind following last week's 2-0 defeat in Bulgaria. The Netherlands have missed last year's European Championship and another missed qualification to a final tournament will be an immense disappointment for the nation. Fred Grims will be the interim head coach, at least for the match against Italy, and he will have to do without injured defender Stefan de Vrij. Italy have been doing pretty well lately, they are unbeaten in their last six matches and are going head-to-head with Spain at the top of their World Cup qualification group. Last week they defeated Albania 2-0 at home with goals from Daniele De Rossi and Ciro Immobile, recording their third consecutive clean sheet. Head coach Gian Piero Ventura will probably choose to change some things in his starting eleven and he will probably choose to field the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma, Daniele Rugani and Alessio Romagnoli. Probable line-ups: Netherlands: Zoet - Karsdrop, Hoedt, Indi, Blind - Sneijder, Strootman, Wijnaldum - Robben, Dost, Depay Italy: Donnarumma - Romagnoli, Bonucci, Rugani - Zappacosta, Gagliardini, Verratti, Parolo, De Sciglio - Belotti, Eder My prediction: 1-1 draw. Here are the odds for the match at Bet365: Netherlands win - 2.70 Draw - 3.10 Italy win - 2.70
