Former ATP world number one Novak Djokovic decided to part company with coach Boris Becker after three years of working together. Djokovic won six Grand Slam titles while working with Becker, a multiple Grand Slam winner himself as a player, and even managed to hold all four Slam titles at the same time when he won the French Open at Roland Garros final in June. But the second half of the season was quite disappointing for Djokovic, who eventually ended up losing the number one position to Andy Murray.
"After three very successful years, Boris Becker and I have jointly decided to end our cooperation," Djokovic said in a post on his official Facebook account. "The goals we set when we started working together have been completely fulfilled, and I want to thank him for the cooperation, teamwork, dedication and commitment. On the other hand, my professional plans are now directed primarily to maintain a good level of play, and also to make a good schedule and new goals for the next season. In this regard I will make all future decisions."
Boris Becker confirmed that the decision was "mutual" and added: "If somebody would have told us three years ago we are going to win six Grand Slams together, regain the number one spot in the world and just be the most dominant player, I would have signed up for that." Djokovic will continue to work with Marian Vajda, who has been his mentor and coach since the beginning of his career. It is believed that the Serbian player will add a big name to his coaching staff, most likely a former player with several titles won in his playing career.
Novak Djokovic is 6/4 at Bet365 to win the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tournament in 2017.

In the last three years this couple won 6 grand slam tournaments out of 12. I cannot understand this split. Yeah, I know Nole lost the No. 1 position to Murray, but Andy had a really good year. No doubt, Nole is a better player but Andy is younger. I hope Nole will find the right direction again and he will reach the No....

No doubt, Nole is a better player but Andy is younger. I hope Nole will find the right direction again and he will reach the No. 1 position again. He has got a new mentor (a Spaniard but I know nothing about him), and Vajna will be the "boss" again...

I think this was a mistake. But from Becker's interview for British media it was obvious that Novak wasn't committed to tennis. So there was no more place for Becker who wanted to stay on course and keep working hard. I do agree sharpe, I mean, if Novak is not motivated to work hard then coach without a real influence...

I do agree sharpe, I mean, if Novak is not motivated to work hard then coach without a real influence will be hired, or maybe he will work with Vajda only. There are some rumors that Darren Cahill might be his new coach. That means that Halep is looking for a new coach.

It wasn't a secret that they will going to broke up their partnership and first rumors of that appeared maybe even couple of months back. I still think coach Vajda is the most influencial figure in Djokovic's trainings and whoever he brings next as his coach would probably be more of a meadia importance than with real influence over Nole's style or at least that's my opinion.
