Swansea City have turned down an offer worth 10 million pounds from Everton for central defender Ashley Williams. The Wales national team captain reportedly was close to reaching an agreement for a move to Goodison Park. The Swans skipper, aged 32, has a contract with his current club until 2018.
A Swansea club spokesman said: "We are not looking to sell him and therefore we have turned down the offer currently on the table." Williams is a club legend for Swansea, he has played over 300 matches for them since joining from Stockport in 2008 for 300,000 pounds. He has also been a key player for Wales in their Euro 2016 campaign, where they managed to reach the semi-finals.
Everton had been interested in Williams since last summer, they wanted to sign him as a replacement for John Stones, in case the England international's move to Chelsea or Manchester City would have gone through. Now Manchester City seem determined to sign Stones, so Everton have to look for a replacement. It is unclear whether Swansea want more money for Williams or they don't want to sell him at all, considering he is the leader of the squad.
Swansea City are 5/1 at Bet365 to finish inside the Premier League top ten next season.

Well guys, he showed his quality at this years Euro. It doesn't matter if he can play two or three seasons max on his high level. He showed everything that coaches want - knowledge, passion, determination and strength. Just recall situation when he had his arm injured, and he was screaming towards his bench that he has no intention to leave. I think it was quatter finals. Every manager wants this kind of a player in his team. And with all this millions flying around, I think that 10 millions of pounds for him is maybe even lowball, add 5 more and you can have him Everton.

A. W. is a very important player for Swansea . He is a player who is the real commander of the defense . He's experienced , a lot of games behind him. 32 years is not a little, and maybe they could have earned well from that.

He is a great central back , and he played great at Euro 2016 but 10 million pound for 32 years old is a litlle to much . And i dont know if its good decision by Everton to sign 32 years old player to for replacement of 22 years old Stones who has almost whole career in front of him.
