Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain will not enter negotiations with Napoli to renew his contract, his agent revealed. The striker's contract runs out at the end of the 2017-2018 season and Nicolas Higuain, the player's brother and agent, said that the forward will not extend the deal. If Napoli don't sell them before the end of the contract they could lose him on a free transfer in the summer of 2018.
Higuain had a fantastic season with 36 goals scored in the Serie A. His contract contains a buyout clause but not many clubs would be willing to pay it: 72 million pounds. Atletico Madrid are on the lookout for a top striker, but Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Gonzalo Higuain.
Nicolas Higuain said: "We arrived with a Champions League project, of being champions, of growing, and the response of the company was not the most correct. It's their right to ask for his buyout clause, but we will opt for the path of not renewing the contract and he will be free in 2018. In these conditions we are going to respect the contract that we have with Napoli but we are not going to renew it under any circumstances. Gonzalo is super professional and will continue to give the maximum."

Liverpool - 2/1 Chelsea - 6/1 Man United - 7/1 Juventus - 9/1 West Ham - 14/1

One of the best strikers in the world. I still do think that he is better then Benzema, but most people try to convince me otherwise. He must be disapointed since he had amazing few seasons and title wasn't even near. I would love to see him in Premier league. It is either that or Atletico Madrid, but I doubt that he would...

This is more or less expected. He is currently the best striker who plays in Italy, but he has't won a championship yet, Juventus wins all titles..This situation is depressing for the players, when you know you're the best and you can not win title. I wish him to go to the club that really can win titles and be a competitor...

I wish him to go to the club that really can win titles and be a competitor to the biggest clubs in Europe. In Naples that is a very difficult, as the struggle with windmills..
