Premier League: Chelsea bid for Andre Gomes rejected
Chelsea have made an offer worth 32 million pounds for Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes, but the Spanish club rejected the bid, according to Sky Sports sources. Valencia seem to want more money from a possible deal for Gomes as Benfica, his previous club, would get a large chunk of the fee due to a clause in the transfer deal to Spain. Reports claim Valencia want an extra 10 million pounds for the Portugal international. According to the same source Benfica would be entitled to 25 per cent of the transfer fee. Andre Gomes joined Valencia from Benfica last summer and the Spanish club want to get 32 million pounds for themselves from the sale of the midfielder. Chelsea have not yet decided whether to improve their bid or not and the Premier League club declined to comment on the bid. Andre Gomes is a very talented central midfielder, he has also featured in Portugal's 1-1 Euro 2016 draw against Iceland on Tuesday. Last season he played in 41 matches in all competitions for Valencia, with 5 goals scored and 8 assists provided to his team mates. However, the Spanish club finished 12th in the Primera Liga, losing the right to play European football next season. Gomes had already played for Valencia in the 2014-2015 campaign on a loan deal from Benfica before the permanent transfer. Chelsea are 13/2 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title next season.
